Free for homeowners · A real person reads every request · One local company gets it · Referral service, not a contractor
Got it. A person on our team will review your request and pass it to one local heating company. A local pro will reach out.
If you have no heat and it's below freezing, don't wait on us: call a 24-hour heating company now. Smell gas? Leave the house first, then call Enbridge Gas at 1-800-767-1689 or 911 from outside.
Smell gas (rotten eggs)? Don’t troubleshoot. Leave the house, don’t flip switches, and once you’re outside call Enbridge Gas at 1-800-767-1689 or 911. The number is from Enbridge Gas’s safety page. Carbon monoxide alarm going off? Get everyone outside and call 911.
What’s your furnace doing?
- No heat at all. Run the 10-minute safe checklist on No heat in Salt Lake. If it’s still out, send a request.
- Blowing cold air. Often a filter, a thermostat setting, or a dirty flame sensor.
- Strange noise or smell. Shut it off and request help. A burning-dust smell for a few minutes on the first cold morning is common. A smell that keeps going is not.
- Old, and you’re thinking about replacing it. Read Replacing a furnace in Salt Lake. Altitude and rebates matter here.
- Working, but due for service. See furnace tune-ups in Salt Lake for what one costs and what it should include.
Why Salt Lake is a little different
- Elevation. City reference points in the valley run from about 4,265 feet (Salt Lake City) to about 4,465 feet (Sandy), and bench neighborhoods sit higher. The national gas code reduces a furnace’s rated input above 2,000 feet, so sizing and setup have to account for altitude. Ask how any installer handled it.
- Rebates. Enbridge Gas ThermWise pays $300 for a qualifying 95% to 97.4% AFUE gas furnace and $350 for 97.5% or higher with an ECM blower in 2026. Details are on the replacement page.
- No federal furnace tax credit in 2026. The federal 25C credit ended for equipment placed in service after December 31, 2025. Some older cost guides still mention it.
What a repair usually costs
Nationally, most furnace repairs run $133 to $505, and the average is $318 (Angi, 2026). After-hours calls can cost up to twice as much. See furnace repair costs in Salt Lake before you approve work.
How it works
- Send your ZIP and phone number. Add what’s wrong in the optional box if you want.
- A person reviews it and passes it to one local heating company that covers your area. Only that company gets it.
- That company calls you, quotes you directly, and does the work only if you hire them. You pay them, not us.
Common questions
Are you a heating company? No. Salt Lake Furnace Repair is a free referral service. We pass your request to one local heating company, and that company quotes and does the work. See How it works.
What does this cost me? Nothing. Heating companies may pay us for referrals. That doesn’t change what they charge you, and you pay them directly only if you hire them.
How many companies get my request? One. Your request goes to one local heating company that serves your ZIP. It isn’t sent to a list, so you won’t hear from a crowd of companies.
Who will contact me, and how? Full Docket or the local heating company it works with, by phone or email, about your request only. To stop, tell the caller or reply to the email.
When will I hear back? A local pro will reach out. We don’t promise a time. If you have no heat and it’s below freezing, call a 24-hour heating company directly instead of waiting on us.
Do I have to hire them? No. Get the quote, ask your questions, and decide. Saying no costs nothing.
How do I check a company before work starts? Ask for its Utah license number and look it up on the Utah Division of Professional Licensing lookup. Ask for proof of insurance too. We don’t license or guarantee contractors.
What will my repair cost? We can’t quote it. Nationally, most furnace repairs run $133 to $505 (Angi, 2026). The heating company gives you its own price, often after a diagnostic visit. See furnace repair costs in Salt Lake.
